STORY

Caroline Melani is an Austrian singer-songwriter. She started playing piano at the age of eight and has been singing ever since she can remember.

In her childhood she moved and travelled a lot, living in places such as Hawaii, and Norway. While having to adjust to new surroundings, and people constantly, she often withdrew to jot down ideas and thoughts in her notebooks, which only turned into songs much later.

After finishing school, she moved to London to study contemporary music, but didn’t finish the degree and went on to work on her first music project, For a Change. The album was never released, but one of the songs, Meet Me Tomorrow, won a songwriting competition with the grand prize of a music video. After the release of the video Caroline started a crowdfunding project for her first album Begin Again. In the songs of the album, she recounts many of the times she had to start from scratch, both in her life, career, and relationships. The album is like a journey, taking you from heartbreak through some dark valleys to hope and out successfully on the other side. Her vocal style is influenced by singers such as Eva Cassidy and Lauryn Hill, and background vocals with church-like arrangements are a signature on most songs. Her songwriting is honest, but not blunt, embellishing stories that are hers, making them the listeners, if he is willing to embrace the experience. The album doesn’t stick to just one genre, rather, the words of the songs influence the instruments and style.
